How the test works.

nomotype measures four independent dichotomies. Your preference on each becomes one letter, and the four letters together describe one of the 16 types.

How scoring works

64 balanced items

Each of the four dichotomies is measured by 16 statements, split so that some point toward each pole. This balance reduces agreement bias and keeps the reading fair.

Five-point scale

You rate agreement from Strongly disagree to Strongly agree. Agreement adds weight to the statement's pole; disagreement adds weight to the opposite pole.

Percentages, then a letter

We total the weight for each side of a dichotomy and convert it to a percentage. The stronger side wins that letter, and the four winners form your type.

A guide, not a verdict

Type is a lens for self-reflection, not a fixed label. Answer honestly and revisit over time, since results can shift as you grow and as context changes.

Frequently asked

Is nomotype the official MBTI assessment?

No. nomotype is an independent tool built on the same four dichotomies that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator popularized. It is not affiliated with, licensed by, or endorsed by the trademark holders.

How is my type calculated?

For each dichotomy, we sum how strongly your answers lean toward each pole across its 16 items, convert those sums to percentages, and pick the stronger pole. The four winning letters form your type.

Why do I get a percentage for each trait?

The percentage shows how strongly you lean toward one pole. A 52/48 split means you're near the middle on that trait, while 80/20 means a clear preference. Near-even splits are the most likely to change on a retake.

Can my type change?

Your core preferences tend to be stable, but self-report results can vary with mood, context, and honesty. If you're between two types, read both profiles, and the one that resonates most is a good guide.

Is my data private?

Yes. There's no account and no server storage. Your latest result is kept only in your own browser's local storage, and you can clear it anytime by retaking or clearing your browser data.

How long does it take?

Most people finish in about ten minutes. There's no timer, so you can go at your own pace and use the Back button to revise an answer.
